Looking for a meaningful volunteer opportunity? The Billy DeFrank Center is always looking for volunteers to help support youth, adults, families and seniors in the LGBT community. Currently we desire increased participation in the following groups:

• Coming Out - Wednesdays
• Men's Support Group - Thursdays
• Women's Support Group - Thursdays
• Bisexual Support - 1st & 3rd Tuesdays
• Transwomen Support – 2nd & 4th Fridays
• Transmen Support – 4th Tuesdays
• Spirituality Support – 3rd Tuesdays

Additionally, we're looking for people interested in developing the following potential programs:

• Interracial/Interethnic Support
• Queer Professionals Support

Experience

Entry-level experience is okay with the desire to learn and help build community. Experience working with gay, lesbian, bisexual, and transgender people preferred. Prefer experience in facilitating groups.

Skills Required

Excellent verbal communication and leadership skills, and the ability to work independently. Facilitators must go through DeFrank-provided training before being placed in a support group. Training includes guidelines for volunteers, tools to lead groups, conversation icebreakers, and how to defer from inappropriate topics of conversation.
